The Femto-science Factory: a Multi-turn Erl Based Light Source
نویسندگان
چکیده
A conceptual design study for a future multi-turn ERL based light source at HZB is completed and presently under internal review. The Femto-Science-Factory (FSF) is a candidate for a 4 generation diffraction limited synchrotron light source. It will provide its users with ultra-bright photons of angstrom wavelength at 6GeV. The FSF is intended to be a multi-user facility and offer a wide variety of operation modes. Presented in this paper is an overview of the conceptual design with respect to the facility layout, operation modes and the expectations of the beam parameters from the start-to-end simulations.

Feasibility Study of Multi-turn Erl-based Synchrotron Light Facility
Energy Recovery Linacs (ERL) have been discussed as drivers for synchrotron radiation facilities in X-ray region for over a decade. The first proposal for a multi-turn ERL as a next generation synchrotron light facility was in 1997 [1]. Since then great advances in ERL technology and high brightness electron source development were achieved [2], ERL-based high power free electron infrared laser...

متن کاملPhase I Energy Recovery Linac at Cornell
Cornell University, in collaboration with Jefferson Lab, has proposed a novel X-ray source based on the energy recovery linac (ERL) concept [1, 2]. Such a source will exceed the brightness of third generation synchrotron light facilities and will also allow ultra short X-ray pulses and variable pulse formats, to enhance existing, and promote new applications in X-ray science. A multi-GeV ERL sy...

Cornell University has proposed an Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) based synchrotron-light facility which can provide improved X-ray radiation due to the high beam quality which is available from a linac. To additionally utilize beam currents that are competitive with ring-based light sources, the linac has to operate with the novel technique of energy recovery. Cornell plans to address the outstan...
